WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY PERSONAL DATA WHEN I JOIN?
HOW DO I BOOK A COURT?
Tennis and squash courts are booked via the Mycourts system. On joining the club, all members are given a username and password.
Courts are bookable 14 days in advance. When booking, please enter those who you are playing with and only book when matches are confirmed to maximise court availability for all members.
CAN I BRING A GUEST?
Please note that temporarily, during the COVID-19 situation, we have a ‘members only’ rule, so non-members are not permitted to play. This is for safety reasons and to ensure maximum court time for members.
Our normal policy welcomes members to bring occasional guests, although we encourage returning guests to join. Guests are asked to pay a £5 fee which is payable over the bar and sign the Visitors Book before playing. Please encourage guests to download the NHS COVID-19 app and scan the QR code once they arrive at the club.
HOW DO I USE THE LIGHTS/FLOODLIGHTS?
We use a token system for both the squash and tennis courts.
For the squash lights, please buy tokens (£5 each) from the bar and insert into the box outside the courts.
For the tennis floodlights, please buy tokens from the bar and insert into the correct numbered box in the kitchen, or ask the person serving at the bar to facilitate.
HOW DO I FIND SOMEONE TO PLAY WITH?
We are a very social club and encourage all members to get involved in the various events, leagues, tournaments and social sessions held to get to know others.
- Social sessions are held every Wednesday from 6pm and Sunday from 2pm (1pm in the winter). All standards are welcomed and a mix-in format is played so everyone is guaranteed some play.
- Single box leagues run throughout the year and are a great way to get regular playing time with players of a similar standard. To join, please email email@example.com and you will be entered into a newbie league and then slotted into a subsequent league at the suitable level.
- Social sessions are held every Sunday from 5.30pm to 7.30pm and every Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm. All standards are welcomed and a mix-in format is played so everyone is guaranteed some play.
- To enter the singles box leagues, which run monthly, please contact Graeme Hogarth (07890 875 696) to discuss which league would be most appropriate.

For squash coaching, please contact Graeme Hogarth (firstname.lastname@example.org or 07890 875 696)
ARE THERE RULES REGARDING CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR?
We do not impose any strict guidelines for clothing but please wear appropriate sports gear for tennis and squash. However, for your own safety and the protection of the courts, please ensure footwear and soles are non-marking, not ridged or studded and are tennis or squash trainers accordingly.
COURT ETIQUETTE: WHERE CAN I FIND OUT ABOUT IT?
Grafton is a relaxed and progressive club with a strong social camaraderie. As a result, we don’t enforce strict etiquette – mainly because we don’t need to as everyone is respectful of each other, honest and adheres to the norms you would expect on a tennis or squash court.
If you are new to either sport, feel free to ask other members or email the club for more information. If you see any behaviour you don’t think is acceptable, please feel free to contact Murray Sutton, Tim Bannerjee or someone on the committee.
CAN I GET WIMBLEDON TICKETS VIA THE CLUB?
Yes, we get an allocation from the LTA which is eligible to all members – tennis and squash. A club ballot is conducted each May for those that enter their names and are British Tennis Members. Tickets are allocated in pairs and all must be used by club members.
CAN JUNIORS BOOK COURTS?
Yes. Tennis courts are available Monday to Friday until 6pm and anytime at the weekend. Squash courts are available to be booked Monday to Thursday until 6pm.
CAN I HIRE THE CLUB FOR PRIVATE FUNCTIONS?
Yes, please contact Murrary Sutton or email email@example.com.
I’D LIKE TO HELP OUT AT THE CLUB-WHAT CAN I DO?
Please ask Murray Sutton, another committee member or email firstname.lastname@example.org. There are roles available that we’d always appreciate help on; bar volunteers, helping out with the gardening etc.
I’VE SEEN SOMETHING THAT’S BROKEN; WHO DO I TELL?
