COURT ETIQUETTE: WHERE CAN I FIND OUT ABOUT IT?
Grafton is a relaxed and progressive club but there is a code of conduct which should be observed; members must be courteous on court and respect those playing around them. The following guidelines should be observed:
Only go to your court/open gates during a pause in play i.e. at the end of a point or game. Do not go onto an adjacent court during play.
promptly return balls that stray onto your court to the server on the adjacent court during a break in play.
The server should call the score after each point and call the games score at the end of each game.
Avoid returning a first serve fault.
Do not use bad language.
Do not hit, kick or throw a racket, ball or other object in anger.
Players must not receive coaching during a match except from their doubles partner.
Wait for the first ball to be cleared and for the receiver to be ready before playing a second serve.
Be scrupulously fair in all line decisions; players are responsible for calls on their side of the net and should not decide or volunteer opinion on calls from the other side of the net.
If you are dissatisfied with a call from an opponent simply ask ‘Are you sure?’ if the answer is yes play must continue; if there is any doubt, the player on whose side the ball fell has the option of offering to replay the point.
CAN I GET WIMBLEDON TICKETS VIA THE CLUB?
Yes; we get an allocation from the LTA; all members, tennis and squash, are eligible for the Club ballot, conducted in May, if they are British Tennis Members; tickets are allocated in pairs.
ARE THERE RULES REGARDING CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR?
